MY SPECIALTIES
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Provides a supportive and confidential space for young adults, adults, and older adults to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges. Whether navigating life transitions, managing stress, healing from trauma, or addressing mental health concerns, therapy offers personalized guidance tailored to each stage of life. Through a compassionate and collaborative approach, individuals gain coping strategies, self-awareness, and emotional resilience, empowering them to lead more fulfilling and balanced lives.
MEDICAL TRAUMA
Occurs when a person experiences distressing or frightening medical events, procedures, or prolonged health challenges that leave a lasting emotional impact. It can stem from emergency treatments, chronic illness, invasive procedures, or even negative interactions with healthcare providers. Symptoms may include anxiety, hypervigilance, avoidance of medical care, and physical distress when recalling medical experiences. A trauma-informed approach is essential in healing, as it acknowledges the emotional effects of medical experiences and provides compassionate support to help individuals regain a sense of safety, trust, and control over their health journey.
EMDR
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION REPROCESSING
A specialized therapy designed to help people process distressing memories, particularly those related to trauma. It involves guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while focusing on specific memories, allowing the brain to reprocess them in a way that reduces their emotional intensity. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that can help individuals feel less overwhelmed by past experiences, promoting healing and emotional well-being.
STRESS & TRAUMA
Stress and trauma can deeply impact a person’s emotional and physical well-being. Stress is the body’s natural response to challenging situations, but when overwhelming or prolonged, it can lead to anxiety, burnout, and other health issues.
Trauma, on the other hand, occurs when an individual experiences an event or series of events that feel deeply distressing or overwhelming, often leaving lasting emotional effects.
A trauma-informed therapist is essential because they understand the complex ways trauma affects the brain and body. They create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to heal at their own pace without re-traumatization.
MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS
Are conditions that affect a person’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, often impacting daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. They can range from anxiety and depression to more complex conditions like bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and schizophrenia. These disorders are not a sign of weakness but rather medical conditions that can be effectively managed with the right support. Therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes can help individuals navigate their challenges and improve their quality of life. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and with the right care, healing and growth are possible.
